Tianmen Mountain: Current Routes, Glass Walkways and the Cave

Check the dated route notice first

New Hunan’s report of the scenic area’s notice states that from 13 October 2026 the main cableway is suspended and only round-trip C-route sightseeing is open. A reopening date has not been announced in that notice. This route check was reviewed on 14 October; look for a newer notice before your own visit.

How the announced C route connects

The notice describes entry at the mountain gate, the Tianmen Cave Express Cableway to the cave area, the upper seven-stage escalators to the summit and return via the same escalators and express cableway. It also describes the city cableway-station-to-gate shuttle as operating during the closure. Confirm the actual departure point in your order rather than assuming that the city station is a main-cableway boarding point.

Glass walkway access is not guaranteed

The provincial government reported an East Line Glass Walkway closure beginning 12 May 2026. That older report is not proof of its status on your future visit. The October notice also warns that glass walkways and the cave stairway can close for weather, maintenance or events. Do not use an unavailable eastern walkway as a guaranteed alternative. Follow the open routes and staff instructions, and skip a glass segment if you are uncomfortable.

Check the ticket components

Check admission, both transport directions and any optional segments separately. The announced C-route package includes return Express Cableway and upper escalator rides; the notice excludes the lower escalator’s uphill single ride. This does not establish today’s final price. Match the selected product, passport procedure and reservation slot before paying. Do not assume a QR code alone is accepted for every ticket type.

Choose a pace and return plan

Allow a separate sightseeing day when possible and include walking, queues and transfer time. Escalators reduce climbing but do not remove all steps or walking. Give Niuben your hotel, travel date, onward departure and preferred guide language.
